We had a great visit in Alabama. Lucy loved getting to meet Mickey Maw, her great grandmother, and the rest of the family as well! It was very cold so we stayed inside most of the visit, but enjoyed laying around and getting to visit with everyone! Here are some pictures from our fun first Thanksgiving visit in Alabama.
first night staying with Mickey Maw. We give Lucy a bath every night, mainly to wash her hair. Usually we have to wake her for this and her last night time feeding which Mickey Maw said was "child abuse to wake a sleeping baby" Lucy usually doesn't mind, but this night we blew dry her hair just for fun. Mickey Maw and Lucy were both upset with Jim and me.

So the thing that I am most thankful for this season besides the obvious things like Jesus, family, and so on is time. During my 12 weeks of maternity leave I tried to soak up every single minute with my sweet daughter, because like everything else I knew it would pass too quickly. It was the absolute sweetest, most enjoyable time in my life just letting the day revolve around her and her needs. Everything felt so natural, and with each day being ours we had time to enjoy all the little/big things like strolling, reading, rocking, etc. We were blessed to have 3 successful trips for Lucy to meet family that loves her so much. And all these trips were at least 4 days of visiting rather than a short weekend, so we did not have to feel so rushed and actually got to rest during our visit. The quote by Billy Graham from my last post is something Jim came across from the My Hope America special. I thought it was perfect timing to hear it because each second in Lucy's life matter so much right now. She is going to grow quicker in this 1 year than any other time in her entire life. I'm thankful for the quality time with my family not just from these past 12 weeks, but also the quality time that I have experienced throughout my life. I miss my days with my little girl, but love getting to come home to her each night. I pray that Jim and I always have enough time to invest in her the way God intends for us too. That we will use what little time we have wisely, whether its an entire day or a few hours in the evening. And I pray that Lucy will grow up valuing time with family as well.
